Hi Everyone, Gwen here today to share a background tutorial using Glimmer mists, Shimmerz paints and the humble toilet roll insert.
Step One – Dip the end of your toilet roll insert into some gesso and then “stamp” in a random pattern onto your paper – the more random you are the better. Be sure to dry this off fully before you start the next step.
Step Two - Next, turn the toilet roll upside down so you are working with the clean end... Place onto your page and mist down the centre of the tube... Repeat in a random pattern working with the gesso circles you created in step one. This will create a misted circle shape with the tube acting a bit like a mask.
Step Three – Using a round dabber dip into the Shimmerz paint and sponge onto your page to fill in your background pattern. It also works best to mix up your colours – I have used 3 Glimmer mists and 3 Shimmerz paints.
Keep playing with the 3 techniques until you are happy, drying in between layers. You are now ready to layer up your paper , photo and embellishments.
