Tips & Techniques - "Adding Depth of Colour" by Felicity Wilson

Felicity Wilson for Scrap Friends
Hello :)  It's Felicity here today to share with you a page I created using January sketch, because I just loved it so much, with a couple of simply little hints to help create a little depth of colour to your page.

Tip 1: Watercolour pencils. These do not leave my desk. They're great for shading and blending, especially if you want something subtle. Here I have shaded with my pencil and then blended with my finger to add a little depth to my title.

Tip 2: Sprays. Ok, so it goes without saying, sprays are a must for me. I generally start my page first by spraying a few different tones of the same colour, blending them together. When I know where I'm going to place my photo, I always spray a darker colour under the photo matt, to create a shadow type affect. Another way to add depth of colour

Tip 3: Wax crayons. As you can see I have used a template with some texture paste on my white cardstock. Even though I have sprayed lightly, I wanted to make it stand out a little, but not too much. So I have used a wax crayon around the edge of the texture circle and again lightly rubbed it in with my finger.

The full result :))

I hope this has inspired you to add some depth with colour to your page with a few simple, but different mediums!!
